An LED drum performance is a live drum act on drums fitted with LED lights. The drums glow and change colour with each strike, so the audience sees the rhythm as well as hears it. In Singapore you can book LED drummers and LED water drums, where each hit throws up water that catches the light.
LED drums or water drums
LED drummers. Percussionists play illuminated drums in a choreographed routine. The lights flash in time with the beats, which gives a strong opening to an event.
LED water drums. The drums carry water on the playing surface. Each strike sends up a splash that glows in the LED light. It is a striking visual on a dark stage, and it needs a little more planning for the floor and the cleanup.
Where it fits in the programme
An LED drum show works as:
- an opening act, to start the night with energy,
- an interlude, between parts of a gala or an awards programme,
- a finale, before the dance floor opens,
- a set with the DJ, with the drummers playing over the music.
Avoid placing it during speeches or while guests are eating, because it is a loud live act.
Events that suit LED drums
Corporate events, product launches, awards nights, dinner and dance nights, weddings, private parties, festivals and nightlife events. For a launch, a drum roll on lit drums makes a clear lead-in to the reveal. See corporate events and launches.
Combine with other LED acts
Drums pair well with LED tron dancers, who can dance around the drummers, or with an LED robot for the finale. The routine, the music and the colours of the lights can be matched to your theme.
What the venue needs
Drums need stage space and a safe route to load them in. For water drums, ask the venue about protecting the stage floor and plan time to clear up after the set. A dark room shows the lights at their best. Agree the sound levels and the blackout timing with the venue team. The planning guide has the full checklist.
